Hi Chris

Just a couple of things to try...

If I drank 3 pints of beer, my salsa (& driving) would definitely be impaired. Try limiting yourself to 1 alcoholic drink & then go onto soft drinks.

Whilst dancing I NEVER pass any detrimental comments to the follower. Sometimes due to styles/tension/experience I would not attempt certain moves & if anything goes wrong, I immediately take responsibility & always apologise.

Even if things haven't gone brilliantly, I still enjoy a challenge and ALWAYS learn something about my lead. So no matter how it goes, I always thank my partner for the dance. If it went really well, I would always pass an appropriate comment like - you are a very good dancer, I really enjoyed that/look forward to dancing with you again etc.

Try to smile at your partner and if things are going wrong - laugh a little. Dancing is supposed to be fun and if you are enjoying it, your partner will be happier. Lets face it - if you smile at someone, most will smile back.

You will sometimes encounter rude/self-centred/snobbish followers. Try to treat them as above - the same as you would your favourite partner. This way you retain your own self-respect and don't lower yourself to their level.

Lastly, if the wobbly armed/don't believe in anti-perspirant/had garlic for tea again/take 3 steps for each of yours/pull your arms out of their sockets girl asks you to dance, give it your best shot!

Hope you enjoy your Salsa again soon, best of luck.
